The Fouga Magister is a two-seat, twin engine French jet trainer. Its company designation is CM.170 Magister with the first production modeled named the CM.170-1 Magister. It is powered by Turbomeca Marbore IIA engines.
The main design features a V-tail, an enclosed canopy, and a low- wing. The variations of the aircraft include the CM.170 Magister, CM.170M Magister, CM.170-1 Magister (initial production model), CM.170-2 Magister (upgraded engine), CM.171 Makalu (larger airframe), CM.173 Super Magister/Potez 94 (more powerful engines and ejection seats), CM.175 Zephyr (shipboard trainer), Potez CM.191 (four seat model), IAI Tzukit (AMIT Fouga, new cockpit for Israeli Air Force), and the Fouga 90/90A (reshaped canopy and upgraded avionics).
